Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

As an Actions Coordinator you will be responsible for bringing Greenpeace’s people-powered theory of change to life. You will develop and deliver campaign activities and tactics that help Greenpeace achieve its mission to ensure Earth’s ability to nurture life in all its diversity.

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can deliver ambitious, creative and inspiring non-violent protests, direct actions, and mobilisations in the fight against big polluters, climate change and in the struggle for peace. We are open to receiving applicants from candidates with intermediate to senior levels of experience, as reflected in the salary range.


In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Project management, strategic planning, and health and safety

  • Preparation, planning and coordination of all aspects of non-violent creative confrontations

  • Training the next generation of activists

  • Developing Greenpeace's capacity to be innovative, confrontational and inspirational


ABOUT YOU

You are practical, creative, skilled at logistics, thrive under pressure, and strongly believe in the power of activism. You know what it takes to pull off a high-impact action or event and know how all the moving parts need to come together, from the big picture down to the smallest details. You understand how strategy and tactics work together to win campaigns and make social change.


SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience delivering a range of action led tactics, including non-violent direct action (NVDA)

  • Practical and creative approach to problem solving

  • Campaigning, public engagement or mobilisation expertise

  • A passion for the environment, peace and the work Greenpeace does

  • Ideally, you will have at least three years experience in a similar social movement role

  • Experience with actions equipment and boats is preferred

When you work for Greenpeace Aotearoa, you join a global network of people fighting to protect the environment for future generations to come. Our salaries are competitive with the not-for-profit sector and the range for this role is $90,000 - $100,000. This is a full-time permanent position (37.5hrs per week) based in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand.
